GENERAL INFORMATION

Arrival in Budapest - transfer from the airport

Budapest Ferihegy Airport - one of the newest in Europe - can easily be reached from all capitals and major cities of the world by direct or one-stop flights. Most flights to and from the United States arrive in the mid afternoon and depart in the early morning.

Lower airfares for travelers may be available if you book a round-trip airfare to a major European destination (eg. Frankfurt or London) and then book a separate fare from that destination to Budapest. You may also want to consult your travel agent to find the best fares or try travel websites like expedia.com.

The simplest means of transportation to any place in Budapest is via minibuses. This door-to-door Airport Minibus Service is reasonably priced (one way ticket: HUF 2100, return ticket: HUF 3600). The minibus service is located outside of customs area. Travelers will purchase a voucher and proceed to the waiting area for your van to arrive. The wait is generally 10-20 minutes. Those who schedule round-trip transportation must call to re-confirm their return trip at least 24 hours in advance of their flight.

Another way of getting to the city is by Tourist Taxi (approx. price is EUR 25 - 35 depending on the city zone).

IMPORTANT! Hungary, as is the case with most European countries, requires that your passport be valid at least 90 days after you return to your country of citizenship. Please contact your travel agent or local government agency to be sure you have the proper travel documents.
