The
10th biennial European Winter Conference will be held
in Hungary at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and
Public Administration. Being a brand
new member of the European Union, Hungary will serve as an exciting
and ideal venue of the Conference. The country is situated in the
heart of Europe, between East and West, North and South. The Hungarian
economy is the fastest growing economy in the region. More and
more multinational companies establish their research and development
centers in Hungary. This is accompanied by a strong local industry,
a multitude of SMEs, which represents the most exciting development
of the contemporary Hungarian economy. As a result, Budapest is currently
growing into a major R+D center in Central Europe at the center of
a new, significant market of the 21st century. Budapest, one of the most beautiful historical capitals in Europe, is situated on the banks of the Danube. The city actually consists of three cities: Óbuda, the oldest section, with Celtic and Roman ruins, Buda in hills on the western bank, famous for its historic Castle Hill and beautiful residential area, and bustling Pest with its shopping, government and commercial districts on the flat plain of the east bank. United in 1873, Budapest is renowned as the location of one of the most beautiful World Heritage sites. Only Budapest can say of itself that it has Europe's largest Parliament, largest functioning synagogue and the continent's first underground railway. The architectural beauty with its monuments from neo-classic through baroque to eclectic art nouveau is prevalent in the city. Budapest is also world famous for its artistic abundance of concerts, operas, recitals, galas, exhibitions and spa baths. Budapest is easy to reach
by
air and on the ground. The warm hospitality of residents,
excellent food
and wine, reliable
and frequent public transportation, vivid cultural life,
rich museums,
etc, attract millions of visitors every year. Visitor-friendly visa
policy, value-for-the-price services and goods, and a pleasant climate
make Hungary one of the most popular meeting venues world-wide. The conference will take place in the main building of the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration (H-1093 Budapest, Fővám tér 8.), overlooking the wonderful Duna and the Gellért Hill. The downtown shopping district, the famous food-market and most conference hotels are within walking distance.
